heritage from five viewpoints

I captured St Catherine's Church in Hoogstraten as a digital 3D reconstruction. Five fixed views make the building readable from above and along each façade.

Challenge

The challenge

Roof surfaces and long façades are difficult to show in one overview photograph. A complete 3D model also requires more resources than a regular web page. The presentation needed to remain lightweight while preserving spatial context.

Approach

Our approach

I recorded the church from different heights and angles and processed the images into one reconstruction. Of 687 input photographs, 686 were used in the model. From the reconstruction, I produced five orthographic views and a short model video. The report also documents a point cloud and 3D mesh.

Result

The result

The building can be viewed from the front, rear, both sides and above. Fixed views and video present the reconstruction without requiring visitors to load the complete model. Additional close-range capture remains relevant for very fine façade details.
