Sunrise Festival 2026
from master plan to implementation
For Sunrise Festival 2026, I translated a year of plan revisions into supplier documents, GPS setting-out, print files and successive site captures. During 31 days at De Lilse Bergen, I helped put the same spatial plan base into practice.
The challenge
The festival area, campsite, beach, parking and utilities had to remain connected while major parts of the layout changed. Suppliers needed focused information. During the build, this was joined by daily revisions, print questions and practical issues.
Our approach
I managed the master plan in SketchUp and produced A0 overviews, zone plans and briefs in LayOut. The shared PDF plan was V0.97; the working model developed further to V1.00. I helped prepare the GPS workflow and set out positions on site. A colleague handled the GPS export.
Whenever conditions allowed, I recorded the build again. The June campaign comprised 37,000 unique photographs on 18 capture dates, used in 17 dated model projects. Orthophotos and DSMs document progress; selected processing runs also include 3D data. Final models reused the campsite capture from 25 June. I also handled DTP, file checks and print orders within my own scope.
The result
The plan base supported briefing, setting-out, print preparation and recording the build. The captures allow the site's development to be reviewed. The busiest production phase also highlighted improvements: finalising the master plan earlier and tracking ordering, delivery and installation separately. The print list therefore does not provide a complete inventory of installed items.
