Sunset Festival 2026
build-up and as-built from the air
For Sunset Festival 2026 at De Lilse Bergen, I flew the site twice: during the build-up on 15 September and for the as-built capture on 19 September.
The challenge
A festival site changes day by day during the build-up. A capture during the build and one of the completed condition make that evolution available again later, for review and for future editions.
Our approach
On 15 September, I captured the build-up: 729 images with RTK positioning, processed into an orthophoto of about 2 cm per pixel covering approximately 11.7 hectares, a digital surface model, a 3D model and contour lines. The as-built capture followed on 19 September: 1,266 images, processed into an orthophoto, a digital surface model, a point cloud and a 3D mesh. The processed as-built area covers approximately 3.14 hectares.
The result
Two dated digital records of the site layout, available in plan view and in 3D. Together they show the site during the build-up and in its completed condition, and provide a reference alongside the existing planning base.
